Sunday Recap

What Happened This Weekend

This weekend at River City, we gathered around the faithfulness of God. The service opened with a warm welcome and a reflection on God’s steady presence in seasons where it can be tempting to doubt him, anchored by Deuteronomy 7:9 and Hebrews 10:23. From there, Rob led the church in confession and the assurance of grace before we moved through singing, prayer, Scripture, and communion. Brad preached from 1 Samuel 16:1-13 and showed how David’s anointing turns our instincts upside down: while people are drawn to what looks impressive on the outside, God sees the heart and empowers by his Spirit. The sermon pressed us to consider where we lean on appearance, success, status, or control to feel significant, and invited us into the freedom of trusting God’s provision and presence instead.
